Ashwood Spencer achieve the ‘Gold Status’ for Mental Health and Wellbeing

We are delighted to confirm that following reaccreditation, Ashwood Spencer Academy has been awarded the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools ‘School Mental Health Award’ – Gold Status. We are extremely passionate about mental health and wellbeing as a school and are committed to ensuring that we promote positive mental health and wellbeing for our pupils, staff, and wider school community.

Since achieving the Bronze Status in November 2020, we have continued to grow and develop our approach to this area across school. Some of the notable differences that we have implemented include ensuring that we have a tiered approach to mental health support, ensuring that we have a variety of specialist support both in and out of school, ensuring all staff have a good understanding of mental health and building a specialist team that is robust and well trained e.g. DSLMH and Mental Health First Aiders.

We have also empowered staff to share knowledge and mobilise change regarding mental health wider than just Ashwood Spencer, working outside of our school. This includes our wider Trust and across different locations, including internationally!

We are thrilled to achieve this award, and will continue to grow and develop our approach to mental health and wellbeing.
